This policy will come into effect in May 2018 as the most significant legal development in data protection in the last few decades. This policy affects all businesses on the data processing of citizens within the EU or European Economic Area (EEA), and aims to give individuals more control over their personal data. The GDPR applies to both automated and manual filing systems where personal data are accessible. Currently, there is no other law with the same breadth and scope.
